Job Description:
The role
Cardno, now Stantec has an opportunity for an experienced Maritime Engineer to join our specialist Ports and Maritime team to undertake port design and master planning, channel and navaid design, coastal structures design, dredging design, asset management, feasibility studies, equipment specification and commissioning, due diligence, contract administration and project management.
Our Ports & Maritime team is geographically dispersed across APAC where you will work in a variety of projects including port and harbour works such as wharves, jetties, dolphins, piles, boat ramps, pontoons, sheet pile, seawalls, revetments, aids to navigation, channel design etc.
As an experienced Engineer you will be responsible for -
- Lead in technical elements of maritime projects
- Preparing assessment calculations and high quality reporting
- Analysis of complex issues and recommendation of solutions
- Work with senior engineers to develop solutions to complex design challenges
- Provide support to senior engineers in relation to compliance with regulatory requirements or industry guidelines.
- Ensure tasks and objectives are completed in a timely manner
- Contributes to strategy and innovation ideas in the team
- Mentoring junior staff in structural engineering
- Building strong relationships with clients
About you
This position requires Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering. To be successful you will display,
- Professionalism, enthusiasm, and collaborative skills within teams
- Ability to solve engineering problems, and manage tasks in accordance with set specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with clients, staff and managers
- Experience in maritime structures design and/or bridge structures design
- Core skills including structural analysis, design and detailing and proficiency in structural analysis packages such as Microstran, SpaceGas, StaadPro or similar. Finite Element Analysis skills will be highly advantageous
- Strong familiarity in steel, concrete and timber design including knowledge of AS1170, AS1720, AS3600, AS4100, and relevant international maritime codes.
- Ability to mentor graduate engineers with regards to technical knowledge.
