Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Marketing and Administration Officer to their team.

We are looking for a highly organised Marketing and Administration Officer with exceptional interpersonal skills to join our friendly team. The successful applicant will ideally work well under pressure whilst having high accuracy and attention to detail.

As a level 3 Marketing and Administration Officer, you should have the ability to work in either a team environment or autonomously. The successful applicant will ideally have an extensive working knowledge of Integris Administration Manager, RM Billing, RM Finance, Consent2Go, as well as various photo and graphic editing programs. Current knowledge of trends related to web design and other online mediums would be highly desirable.

It is important to note that the role may require the successful applicant to work after hours at events such as parent information evenings or Year 12 Presentation Night, as well as ensuring our social media platforms are kept up to date with current events, information and acknowledgements. Arrangements will be in place as compensation for this out of hours work. Applicants must consider this information before applying.

Kent Street SHS is conveniently located just four kilometres south east of the city and the school has forged close ties with Curtin University, other Institutes of further education and industry partners. Established in 1940, Kent Street SHS was the first secondary school to be built on the southern side of the Swan River and has grown into a vibrant multi-cultural school over the years. The Rotary Residential College, located on site, provides an opportunity for country students to attend Kent Street SHS.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Experience in assisting with coordination of events and marketing activities and associated financial management and budgeting requirements.
  • Initiative and organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Sound conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Well-developed computer application skills.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
