Student Engagement Programs Supporting University of Technology - Community
UTS O’Week is made up of a series of events including UTS O’Day, O’Fest and Discover Sydney. The campaign is designed to promote the ActivateUTS brand, Student Engagement Programs, and on-campus venues and services to thousands of new and returning students.
UTS Sport has an array of programs available for the UTS community and public. From UniSport Nationals to their nationally recognised Women in Sport program, there’s something for everyone. UTS Sport also manage the Elite Athlete Program which supports 350+ student athletes balance their sporting commitments with their academic studies.
ActivateUTS has over 180 clubs and societies where like-minded students, meet, socialise and contribute to the UTS community.
The ActivateUTSWellbeing Reps program is for students who wish to increase awareness of mental health services available to students both on – and off – campus. Our Wellbeing Reps are trained on how to best support their peers and advocate for mental health and wellbeing.
The ActivateUTSVolunteering Program is an opportunity for students to give back to the community around them, whilst getting real-world experience. Within this program, there are marketing, events, and social media volunteering streams.
The Elite Performers Program (EPP) supports students who are at an elite or emerging level in their creative discipline with excelling in their practice, whilst also managing their studies at UTS.
We are looking for a strategic and creative Marketing Manager to drive Student Engagement. The role is responsible for developing and executing marketing plans and activities for ActivateUTS and Student Engagement brands including UTS O’Week, UTS Sport, Clubs, Elite Athlete Program (EAP), Wellbeing, Elite Performers Program (EPP) and Volunteering.
This role requires strategic thinking and a curious mindset, with the ability to dig into performance data and work to optimise campaigns to drive customer growth and retention, and maximise performance across a range of student experiences and programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the GM Marketing, Communications and Events in the development of annual marketing strategies for ActivateUTS Student Engagement Programs including UTS Sport, Elite Athlete Program, Clubs and Societies, Volunteering, Wellbeing and Elite Performers Program.
- Support the GM Marketing, Communications and Events in the development of a content and communications strategy for ActivateUTS and its Student Engagement Programs.
- Support the GM Marketing, Communications and Events on owning the relationship with the UTS press office to distribute news and opportunities, with a focus on UTS Sport.
- Lead the development of comprehensive marketing plans for ActivateUTS Student Engagement Programs to increase brand visibility, drive traffic, and generate leads within budget and timelines.
- Develop and execute campaigns that drive awareness, consideration, and conversion across a range of consumer products including, but not limited to, event ticket sales.
- Lead the marketing plans for ActivateUTS’ two tentpole orientation and ActivateUTS-wide campaigns with a focus on driving audience growth across event registration, attendance, and subscription.
- Lead and manage the Marketing and Campaign Coordinator (Student Engagement) to ensure integrated end-to-end marketing campaigns are planned, delivered, and reported on.
- Lead and manage the Social Media Specialist, ensuring relevant student-facing opportunities from ActivateUTS are incorporated into social media plans.
- Manage the preparation of reports on campaign results, including customer growth, retention, and experience.
- Monitor and report on campaign performance, regularly sharing learnings with the broader business and outlining actionable insights to optimise and improve future campaigns.
- Collaborate with Marketing Manager (Commercial) for cross promotion of marketing campaigns across ActivateUTS’ commercial venues including: ActivateFit.Gym, The Loft, The Underground, The Terrace, Aerial Function Centre and the UTS Store.
- Collaborate with the Digital Producer on the development and maintenance of websites, including defining KPIs and SEO strategy.
- Collaborate with the Graphic Designer on briefing and developing of brand assets and marketing collateral.
- Collaborate with the Events & Sponsorship Manager on the development of event marketing plans and sponsorship proposals.
- Champion a customer-first mindset, using customer data and market research to encourage evidence-based decision making.
- Foster and champion collaboration with internal stakeholders to drive campaign planning and execution.
- Act as brand guardian, ensuring all marketing activity is on brand and consistent across all channels.
- Represent ActivateUTS and its commercial brands at relevant events on campus.
Selection criteria:
Essential:
- 5 years’ experience in related positions, with strong brand and integrated marketing experience and suburb oral and written skills.
- Proven track record of executing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple brands that have led to customer and financial growth.
- Results orientated with strong analytical skills, with experience executing and optimising marketing plans across owned, earned, and paid media.
- Self-motivated, nimble and results driven in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, with the ability to manage competing demands and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and prioritisation skills.
- A customer-first mindset.
- Proficient in copywriting and editing.
- Experience leading and managing a small team.
Desirable:
- Experience within a University or student-facing role.
- Budget management.
