We are a small family business with a small team. The Whitsundays is the sailing capital of Australia. Relaxed lifestyle and sunshine almost all year around. We own two boats: one offers a day and sunset tour and the other overnight sails.
Qualifications & experience
- Looking for outgoing person to join us. Ability to sail preferred. Ability to work across both boats: Providence V, a 62ft gaff-rigged schooner and Milady a 54 Jeanneau DS. Willing to train if newly qualified for the right candidate.
- Must have MASTER 5 MED 3
- Advanced First Aid
- Marine Radio Operators Certificate
- RSA
- ESS
- Sailing experience a bonus
Tasks & responsibilities
- The General Management of the vessel.
- Ensuring safety of the ship, crew and guests.
- Ensuring regulatory compliance at all times.
- Management and continuous review of the SMS and correct/report any deficiencies to the shore-based management.
- Mechanical ability and maintaining vessels
- Training and onboard induction of new crew members.
- Ensuring all new crew members complete full ship orientation as soon as possible and their qualifications are all current and appropriate.
- Planning, assigning and delegating duties as required.
- Management of all onboard crew consistent with company policy.
- Attending to onboard complaints and addressing problems as they may arise.
- As part of the management team work cooperatively with other managers in positively promoting policy and practices.
- Monitoring and encouraging the highest standards of behaviour and self-discipline appropriate to company policy and image amongst crew.
- Demonstrating strong leadership of the vessel and crew at all times.
- All Accidents are preventable.
