The Material Risk Specialist is a pivotal role responsible for providing subject matter expertise in risk management to the Supermarkets Safety, Health, and Wellbeing function and broader business. They play a crucial role in improving risk maturity by partnering with the organisation to enhance risk practices, processes, and training. The specialist leads risk identification, assessment, and reporting initiatives, engaging both frontline staff and management in the process.
The ideal candidate for this role possesses a strong technical understanding of risk management and critical risk management, and has proven experience in developing and leading large-scale risk programs. They demonstrate forward-thinking abilities to anticipate changes in the risk landscape at a business level by leveraging insights from diverse sources. Collaborating with stakeholders, the specialist identifies emerging risks and develops mitigation strategies that align with Supermarkets business goals and priorities. By involving relevant stakeholders, the specialist fosters ownership and commitment, enabling the co-design of effective and sustainable solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into operations.
What you'll do:
- Develop, implement and manage the SH&W risk profile.
- Implementation of an effective SH&W risk management program
- Create quality risk management frameworks to ensure risk management is part of all SH&W plans, programs and initiatives.
- Educate and embed key legislative requirements regarding risk management into systems, processes and decision making
- Lead new design and implementation reviews to drive better outcomes for business, team and customers
- Provide informed advice and recommendations on prioritization for risk based decision making on capital investment or improvement programs.
What you'll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in safety, health and wellbeing or equivalent and/or relevant industry experience.
- 7+ years safety, health and wellbeing experience in FMCG, retail, customer focused, high risk industry or fast paced business is preferred.
- Strong technical safety, health and wellbeing experience, specifically in establishing risk profiles and ongoing management of safety, health and wellbeing material and operational risks.
- Knowledge of State and Territory legislative requirements, standards and codes of practice
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and managing risk registries
- Strong influencing, engagement and communication skills
