Who are we looking for?
Our Structures, Bridges & Materials group in Melbourne seeking a skilled and experienced Materials Engineer to support the delivery of a range of high-profile infrastructure projects in a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
You will play a crucial role in leading and managing material-related aspects of our projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, durability, and sustainability are met.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Delivering sustainable design solutions for the materials component of new and existing concrete and steel structures, such as: buildings, tanks and vessels, bridges, transport, marine, industrial and major infrastructure assets
- Undertaking and supervising site investigations and inspections of existing infrastructure, including durability and condition assessments, and the use of destructive and non-destructive testing
- Diagnosis of existing defects identified during inspection, design of remediation and management strategies
- Leading and coordinating projects through collaboration with project teams to integrate the most appropriate materials into the designs
- Business development, investigation of project opportunities and writing of proposals to win new work
- Providing mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional development and growth.
What you will bring to the team:
- A degree in Engineering (Civil, Materials or Structural) or Materials Science
- Demonstrated skills in project management and building and maintaining strong client relations.
- Between 5 and 20 years of Materials Engineering experience, including from within a consulting and/or asset owner environment
- Innovative approach to solving engineering problems and development of cutting-edge solutions or initiatives
- Demonstrated experience in working on infrastructure projects with a focus on corrosion prevention and management, durability design and condition assessments
- Demonstrated experience in design or specification of protective coatings, alloys and concrete
- A sound understanding of current materials technologies, asset integrity inspection, testing, diagnosis and development of remediation strategies
