Early Parenting Centre will provide specialist support and deliver flexible, targeted services for families with children 0–4 years old.The centre aims to enhance the parent-child relationship and support parents with strategies for achieving their parenting goals. These goals are often in areas such as sleep and settling, child behaviour, and parent and
Child Health and wellbeing.These goals are achieved through structured programs that vary from residential, day stay and in-home support. Programs include:
- psychosocial, physical and developmental assessments
- parenting education
- counselling
- skills development
- play-based activities
- modelling effective behaviours.

About the roleThe Maternal and
Child Health Nurse (MCHN) position at the
Early Parenting Centre (EPC) entails providing expert clinical practice support and education on child and family health nursing for both clinical staff and families throughout the triaging, assessment, and intake process. This role involves supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering evidence-informed, therapeutic models of child and family health nursing in alignment with Barwon Health’s values.The MCHN will play a key role in supporting Allied Health clinicians in Triage – Assessment & Intake, ensuring that families are appropriately allocated to the most suitable program within the EPC. This position involves a blend of direct client care, offering advice and education related to child and family health nursing, as well as providing secondary consultations, education, and support for clinical staff.

Desirable: An understanding of, or ability to identify, the range of services available in the community sector to support families
