Mechanical Design Drafter

Inorail are the National distributor for Inoxihp Mining Pumps, SMTScharf rail bound transport/ handling systems specialising in supply and maintenance of longwall pump systems and monorails into the underground coal mining sector.  

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Drafter for an immediate start to join our dynamic team in Rutherford NSW.

Job Description:

As a Mechanical Design Drafter, you will play a crucial role in our product development process. Your primary responsibility will be to create detailed technical drawings and documentation for our Mechanical Designs. You will work closely with our engineering team, translating their concepts and ideas into precise drawings and models using industry-standards and computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, models, and documentation based on engineering specifications and sketches.
2. Collaborate with the engineering team to understand design requirements and objectives.
3. Utilize CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar) to create 2D and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies.
4. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
5. Participate in design reviews and design validation activities.
6. Make necessary adjustments to designs based on feedback and testing results.
7. Assist in creating bills of materials (BOMs) and technical reports.
8. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining design processes and enhancing efficiency.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance, to ensure seamless product development and production.

Requirements:

1. Education: Minimum Certificate III Drafting.
2. 2 Years proven experience as a Mechanical Design Drafter or similar role.
3. Proficiency in using CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor & Vault) to create detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models.
4. Strong understanding of Mechanical Design principles and design standards.
5. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and codes.
6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical documentation.
7. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate ideas clearly.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
