Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client produces unique, high-quality, precisely engineered products for a significant and growing global market. They are experiencing strong, sustainable growth and as a part of that are looking to onboard a capable highly-skilled, and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer into their dynamic team.
Position Summary:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development of their highly engineered product, contributing to the design and innovation that drives their success.
The role will play a key part in driving design and assurance activities across the business.
They require an individual who is registered with a nationally recognized professional engineering scheme (or working towards this) to create designs that meet relevant standards and approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create Mechanical designs that meet performance, safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Drive the design process from a risk management perspective, ensuring engineering design follows a controlled process to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including drafting, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of design into the production process.
- Conduct and facilitate design reviews, simulations, and testing to validate and improve product designs.
- Drive compliance through suppliers and business partners, to improve adherence to the required assurance standards.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE/CPEng/NER) in Mechanical Engineering, or be on the path to this.
- Strong experience in Mechanical Design and engineering of heavy equipment, particularly around welds and related specifications.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Solid Edge, SolidWorks or Inventor) and FEA tools.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
