They are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
Your new role
This 12-month fixed-term contract role will see you play a crucial part in designing and engineering mechanical equipment and systems for bulk materials handling applications.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Create innovative designs for mechanical equipment and systems related to bulk materials handling
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal solutions
- Diagnose issues and provide well-founded recommendations for resolution
- Continuously improve existing designs to enhance performance and reliability
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant Australian Standards and internal guidelines
- Proactively manage and communicate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align expectations and deliver customer requirements
- Foster clear communication channels for successful project execution
- Write and maintain technical reports suitable for diverse audiences
- Prepare client tender documentation to support project bids
- Drive project success by achieving quality, schedule, and budget targets
- Utilise manual calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and other engineering tools to optimise designs
- Review CAD drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD platforms
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or relevant equivalent qualification
- 3+ years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar
- Experienced in applying Australian Standards in design
- Ability to understand and interpret technical specs, and deliver results to sustain or improve asset lifespan
- Thorough understanding of fabrication process and design for fabrication
- Ability to independently carry out structural static FEA on mechanical equipment
- Proficient in MS Office, including MS Project
- Sound technical report writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Mineral processing exposure desirable
