The Halley & Mellowes Australasia Group have been providing material handling and rail product and solutions to some of Australia's most vital industries for over 50 years. The ideal candidate will need to satisfy the following criteria:
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake Mechanical Design using CAD packages.
- Perform engineering calculations
- Source components and equipment
- Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors during design and production
- Ability to clearly develop concepts and designs
- Assist in the management of projects and contracts
- Produce HAZOP, Risk assessment, MDR, QA, Operation and maintenance documentation and engineering reports.
- Ensure that the quality of output of the designs from HMA is in line with the needs of the customer and regulatory authorities
Core competencies and skills:
- Minimum of 5 years experience.
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or similar with exposure to structural and /or machined components
- Carry out engineering and drafting autonomously and under the supervision of HMA senior engineers
- Medium to High Solidworks skill
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Mechanical 2D
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and codes
- Highly motivated, self-managed attitude. Willing to work autonomously remotely when required
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel and in-house engineering programs.
- Fluent in English with good verbal, written, interpersonal and organisational skills.

- Strong communicator, ability to effectively liaise with clients and suppliers.
- Ability to work within the company's QA system and Code of Business Conduct
- Live in Australia with full working rights.
Favorable competencies and skills:
- Understanding of hydraulic (oil) systems
- FEA experience, Solidworks Simulation or Strand 7
- Knowledge of electrical components and controls systems
- Drawing checking experience
- Mining and/or rail industry exposure
The position will be based at our Berkeley Vale office on the Central Coast of NSW.
Ideally the successful candidate will have a strong engineering background. We are looking for people who are "hands on", can think for themselves and have the drive to get the project completed on time.
