Due to our awarded project portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineerto join our multidisciplinary team to successful deliver a diverse range of projects nationally.
Based out of our corporate head office in Rhodes, you will be responsible for providing Engineering, Drafting, HSE, Quality and Workshop services.
THE ROLE
The Design Engineer position forms part of the Saunders Operations group. The Operations Group supports the delivery of construction and maintenance projects by providing Engineering, Drafting, HSE, Quality and Workshop services. The primary objective of the Design Engineer is to support projects by:
- Delivering accurate engineering calculations and method statements on schedule that are safe and fit for purpose.
- Liaise with client representatives, project managers, project engineers, drafting lead and draftspersons to provide required technical information.
- Answering construction or maintenance site queries and provide solutions.
- Involve research and development for most safe and cost-effective solutions for construction and maintenance.
- Attend construction and maintenance sites to provide guidance to the site teams and gather feedback on the method statements provided.
- Responsible for preparing or checking the design calculations.
- Ensure design compliance with relevant design codes.
- Ensure design compliance with client specific design procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Responsible for preparing or checking construction method statements.
ABOUT YOU
- Qualified engineering degree in mechanical or structural
- High analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detailed understanding of relevant design codes and practices
- High level Excel and FEA skills
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD
- Good communication skills
- An innovator with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to respond to a changing work environment
