Given current market growth, Genneral Staircase is seeking to hire a highly motivated and passionate Design (Mechanical) Engineer. The position would be located at our Head Office in Wetherill Park.
The person most suited to this role would have previous experience in a similar role with exposure to the building industry. It would suit a person who is very motivated, outgoing, has a great work ethic and is able to work as part of a dynamic team for a highly successful and fast-growing Australian Business.
This is a full-time permanent role.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Prepare mechanical designs and specifications.
- Create design interfaces for CNC and other advanced machinery.
- Prepare engineering calculations, 3D modelling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Provide engineering expertise to resolve or to make recommendations for the resolution of technical design issues.
- Review construction drawings to enable correct production and installation of required work.
- Assist in preparation of engineering reports and preliminary specifications as well as provide technical input for tender preparation as required.
- Work on various on-site projects from concept to completion.
- Liaise and inform departments of relevant information to ensure they know what to expect during all facets of production.
- Maintain machinery to a high standard.
- Design tools and cutters for advance machinery.

- Machine Operator Trainer – Assist in the provision of Training in conjunction with supervisors and staff.
- Specialist Machine Operator – Perform set-up operations to maximise efficiency.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
- Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Ability to apply knowledge in a practical commercial manner.
- Assist in preparing engineering reports and preliminary specifications, and provide technical input for tender preparation as needed.
- Use measurements provided from site surveys and transfer that information to your construction drawings.
- Communicate relevant information to clients to ensure they understand all aspects of production and installation.
- Oversee the design team, manage workflow, handle leave requests, and coordinate daily tasks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as Team Leader to Senior Mechanical Engineer either locally or internationally
- Experience in construction and/or manufacturing industries.
- Experience in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD Programs.
- Experience in maintaining high end CNC machinery.
- Understanding of LEAN manufacturing / continuous improvement processes - highly desirable.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
- Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Ability to apply knowledge in a practical commercial manner.
- Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
