Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Develop the 3D design model of locomotive assemblies, integrating electrical systems such as power distribution, control, auxiliary, and traction systems.
- Detailed Engineering Design: Translate detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams into 3D space, ensuring seamless integration within the overall design.
- Integration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems effectively into the locomotive design.
- Cost Management: Assist in cost estimation for components and systems, optimizing designs for cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Participate in testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, identifying and resolving issues during prototype and production phases.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of mechanical and electrical designs throughout the project lifecycle.
- CAD Proficiency: Utilize Siemens NX software proficiently for drafting, modeling, and creating 2D and 3D drawings.
- CAD Management: Support the development of comprehensive CAD assemblies with 5000+ parts while adhering to product data management processes.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to ensure project success.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs adhere to quality standards and project objectives.
- Location Preference: Ability to work from Redcliffe location preferred, remote work considered.
Qualifications And Experience:
- Mechanical, Product Design, Industrial Design diploma or degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in design & drafting in 2D and 3D space.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter for mechanical design is a must.
- Strong understanding of electrical & mechanical engineering principles.
- Knowledge of battery electric vehicle or train systems preferred.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacture & Design for Assembly principles.
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to Rail and Locomotives highly regarded.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
