Mechanical Draftsperson / Metrology Technician

Scan Tech 3D Pty Ltd is a multi-discipline engineering design and metrology service  provider located in Townsville North Queensland. 

We provide or clients with complete design and engineering solutions and specialised workshop and site based metrology services. Our specialised services to the mining, refining, power, sugar, OEM and heavy industry clients see our resources spread across Australia and overseas.

We utilise and provide 3D terrestrial scanning, 3D precision scanning, portable CMM applications, laser tracking, point cloud data processing, 3D modelling and 2D manufacturing and documentation packages in addition to the corresponding data processing and reporting software.

 Qualifications & attributes

• 5 Years experience as a Mechanical Design Draftsman/ Metrology Technician / Engineer or similar role
• Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Trade Certificate with appropriate experience
• Competent in AutoCAD, Navisworks, Autodesk Recap, Geomagic DX and Control, MS Office
• Experience with laser scanning, laser tracker and CMM equipment and processes
• Experience with large volume metrology based surveys including development of process methodologies, establishment of control networks, interpretation of data, understanding uncertainty and producing associated technical reports would be an advantage.
• Experience with installation and operations of large fixed plant and mechanical installations particularly in the mining industry would be an advantage
• Highly motivated, proactive and resourceful
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to interact with all levels of client management
• Diligent, accurate and methodical

Tasks & responsibilities

 Design and document engineering solutions

• Progress multiple, simultaneous projects and jobs
• Communicate directly with clients and consultants
• Prepare reports for project designs.
• Deliver projects and jobs on time and on budget
• Operate 3D scanning and laser tracking equipment
• Conduct inspections and scanning on customers site.
• Ensure all project stakeholders are kept up to date with design status
• Prepared to travel / stay and work on sites as required
• Prepared to work additional hours, as demanded by project lifecycle
• Have you own transport and current drivers license
• Report to the Managing Director
