Embark on a fulfilling career pathway as a Mechanical Engineering (Fitter and Turner) Apprentice with our esteemed team. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow while actively contributing to the maintenance and repair of operational assets, including the ship lift, ship transfer system, and various plant, machinery, and equipment as directed. As part of your apprenticeship, you will also provide valuable assistance with activities related to the docking, un-docking, and transfer of vessels and other maritime structures.
This role is tailored for individuals eager to develop practical skills in mechanical maintenance and gain hands-on experience in the maritime industry. You'll be guided by experienced professionals, fostering your growth and expertise in a supportive environment.
Duties will involve:
- Undertake duties to maintain, fault find and repair plant and equipment.
- Contributing to maintenance and repair of operational assets.
- Undertake activities associated with docking, undocking and transfer vessels and other maritime structures.
- Assisting with services roll out and dry berth setup.
- Reporting any incidents relating to impact on the environment or safe operations.
- Complying with all policies and procedures, including the code and conduct and following reasonable directions.
The successful candidate will have:
- Australian Citizenship
- Drivers License
- Motivated with a genuine interest in the engineering industry.
- Have a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to undertake manual / physical work.
- Ability and willingness to work in the following conditions: At heights, on or over water, In confined spaces, inclement weather (including hot, wet and/or cold conditions)
- Eligibility to obtain any required Defence security clearances
