Led by Professor Karen Reynolds, the program provides a mechanism to develop proof of concept, prototyping, clinical evaluation and commercialisation planning. Projects that go through the MDPP Ideas Incubator have a strong commercial focus and are in response to industry-driven problems.About the RoleTo support the growth and success of , Flinders University are now seeking a Medical Device Design Engineer. This is a rare and multi-faceted opportunity for a Biomedical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer to collaborate with researchers, clinicians and industry to complete a diverse range of projects across all areas of medical devices.The Design Engineer will be involved in the design, prototyping, testing and documentation of biomedical engineering solutions to develop novel medical devices. You will be expected to liaise with outside organisations and contractors on complex technical matters to develop sound engineering solutions that are efficient and cost-effective to meet the client's needs.About YouYou will have strong analytical skills, be able to work independently and in a team, and use your initiative to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads. With a strong customer-service approach, you will be driven to understand and meet the needs of a diverse range of clients, while using your well-developed interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with researchers, clinicians and industry. You will have excellent problem-solving skills which will assist in the development of sound outcomes aligned with the client needs.To be successful in this role, you will also:
- Have a qualification in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Mechatronic or similar) with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Experience using CAD tools to design manufacturable parts and assemblies.
- Practical experience in construction and testing prototypes.
- Have a demonstrated understanding of processes such as 3D printing, milling, turning, and laser cutting.
