Our client located in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join their manufacturing facility
Position Overview: The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be instrumental in supporting the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems. This role requires a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering principles, hands-on skills in prototyping and testing, and a keen eye for detail to ensure our products meet the highest standards of functionality, safety, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems, utilising CAD software for drafting and design tasks.
- Conduct mechanical tests on components and systems to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement design changes and solve mechanical issues.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design drawings, testing procedures, and specifications.
- Support the manufacturing process by providing technical expertise and troubleshooting support.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of components and systems through regular inspection and testing.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and engineering best practices relevant to the industry.
- Assist in the procurement of mechanical parts and liaise with suppliers to ensure high-quality materials and components.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field, with a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering principles.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, with hands-on experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks, for designing and drafting.
- Knowledge of mechanical testing methods and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues across departments.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Commitment to safety standards and procedures in an engineering and manufacturing setting.
