Mechanical Engineering Technician – Full Time
Location: Naval Base, WA

The Specialised Transport and Lifting team, based in Naval Base, Western Australia, is offering a Full-Time position for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician, working locally and away, offering an industry leading EBA, with full penalty rates and allowances, suitable to the working roles to be engaged, with progressive initiatives, for employees wanting to expand their skill set and knowledge.
Working within a specialist team, the Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for:
- Assembling, disassembling, setting and configuring (mechanically and electronically) & operating of the Self-Propelled Modular Trailers (Scheuerle, Nicolas and/or Cometto) in any configuration with any cargo type / weight.
- Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant
- Must have basic mechanical, hydraulic and electronic understanding and,
- Must be able to properly understand all the technical and engineering documents relevant to SPMT’s and transport operations.
- Preparing drawings, plans and designs for SPMT and transport operations under the direction of Mechanical Engineers.
- Performing prestart checks and routine maintenance on SPMT and must be able to demonstrate trouble shooting.
The skills and experience required for this role are:
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma
- At least two [2] years work experience
- Safe working track record
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Committed to comply with workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to work unsupervised and
- Ability to work within a team environment
- White / Blue card
- Able to pass a Pre–employment Medical and Drug & Alcohol Screen
- Ability to provide a clear police check if required
- Previous experience in the Specialised transport industry
- Previous SPMT exposure, operation preferred.
- Current C class (car) drivers’ licence
- Up to date Covid 19 vaccination certificate
Desirable criteria:
- Previous Rigging experience and skills
- Forklift and EWP Tickets
- WA pilot escort accreditation
- HC/MC drivers’ licence
- Previous exposure to alternative lifting
- MSIC
- Load restraint training
An attractive remuneration package is on offer for this position with a base salary of $80,000 - $90,000 (depending on the level of experience) and other company-provided items and benefits.
