The Midfield Group is privately owned and operates a true ‘Paddock to Plate’ experience as we own farms, factories, and distribution as to ensure we retain control of the key elements of the process of getting livestock from paddock to plate.
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician who will play a pivotal role in assisting in mechanical equipment design, selecting tools and equipment, installing mechanical assemblies, performing tests, collecting, and analysing data, and ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
Additionally, this position involves operating equipment and controlling processes in the production of high-quality/high-value animal protein products and fat.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Select appropriate tools and equipment for specific tasks
- Assemble and install new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, controls, and hydraulic power systems
- Estimate material costs and quantities, as well as machine requirements
- Collect and analyse data, perform complex computations, and prepare diagrams to support engineering projects
- Perform and direct field and laboratory tests to validate designs and equipment performance
- Ensure that designs and finished work meet specifications, regulations, and contract provisions
- Organize and supervise the inspection and maintenance of machines and plant to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Operate equipment and control processes in the production of high-quality/high-value animal protein products and fat
- Monitor gauges related to times, pressures, and temperatures; manage product flow utilizing SCADA; and ensure adherence to quality standards and safety requirements
- Log pertinent information into log sheets at appropriate intervals to maintain accurate records
- Sample product in accordance with established methods and procedures when necessary
- Prior experience in a rendering facility with HAARSLEV processing technology preferred.
- Associate degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Experience in mechanical design, testing, data collection, and analysis.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, control processes, and equipment maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
