- Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of machinery and equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with mining equipment, including hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and cutting mechanisms.
- Perform repairs and replacements of components, ensuring the equipment is operational and safe for use.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to schedule maintenance activities and minimize downtime.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working in underground mining environments.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar role, preferably in the mining industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and other mechanical components.
- Experience working with coal shearers or similar heavy machinery is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to underground mining operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
