Mechanical Fitter

JOB TITLE: Mechanical Fitter / Machinist
JOB TYPE: Full Time

Mechanical fitters fit needed to assemble metal parts to fabricate production machines and other equipment. Need to be able use a range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant machinery and equipment to operational standards.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Machining including use of: Large and Small Centre Lathes, Milling Machines, Radial Drills, Shaper
Machines, Horizontal and Vertical Boring Machines.
• Fitting including the use of: Gear Reduction Units of all size and type, Fluid Couplings and Power
Transmission Devices, and other Critical Process Pumps, Hydraulic Cylinders, Pump Impeller Rotating
Assemblies, Conveying, valves. Pipe work and process equipment all types.
• Application of fine tolerances to machined surfaces when fitting bearings, gearing, seals etc. to shafts
and hubs with respect to heating/freezing techniques and the like.
• Ability to inspect, analysis and record critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking
mechanical refurbishment work; this critical information would include the interpretations of wear and
tear, mechanical damage to Gears, Shafts, Housing etc. recording of end floats, preloads, gear train,
backlashes, tooth contacts and other at the start and completion of every refurbishment.
• Ability to sketch and accurately measure mechanical components from Gearboxes, Pumps and other
Drive Equipment.
• Use, maintain and service equipment as designed.
• Ensure that work is performed as per Job scopes or ITP’s and current schedule of works.
• Ensure all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements and that documentation is
completed on time.
• Adherence to Company policies and procedures.
• Provide assistance to mechanical Personnel, Welders, boilermakers etc.
• Complete Paperwork/Computer work into Simpro to 100% accuracy.
• Show commitment and respect to Quality, Health and Safety, Environment and Integrated Management
System.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
• School / Higher School Certificate
• Trade Certificate
• Forklift Licence 
• Confined Space and Working at Heights Accreditation
• NSW Valid drivers licence

Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience including general machining plus a sound knowledge of gearboxes, pumps, valves, mining equipment.

Skills
Sound knowledge of QA processes. Preferable forklift plus basis welding and gas cutting competency. Excellent communications skills. Attention to detail and work pride.
