A unique opportunity has arisen for our Sydney, New South Wales operations and Shadbolt is seeking a Mechanical Fitter.

The role:
An opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to work on a full-time basis at our branch located in Sydney, New South Wales Reporting to the Site Manager.
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible to conduct and support the delivery of general fitting and turning tasks. Constructing and assembling mechanical systems.
You will receive great support within a positive and progressive environment.
The key responsibilities of this role will include but are not limited to:
- Conduct and support the delivery of general fitting and turning tasks
- Assemble and fit marine parts and equipment
- Conduct aligning and shimming of main equipment and shaft lines,
- Inspect work to ensure safety and quality standards are met
- Maintain a clean, tidy productive work environment with an aim to minimise all waste in all forms
- Setting up, adjusting and working with the use of workshop tools equipment such as milling machines and lathes
- Reporting OH&S issues to site health and safety representatives
- Carrying out the construction of structural components according to the plan on blueprints
- Strictly adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures, including the use of the appropriate protective clothing
- General duties as required, with in your realm of competence.
About You
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
- Knowledge of the Mechanical Fitting Industry
- Problem-solving skills, to solve and repair system issues efficiently and effectively
- Adequate knowledge of system structures and how to troubleshoot systems by utilizing the knowledge of how the system was designed to perform
- Sound knowledge of tools and how they should be used
- Able to read and understand technical drawings and standards
- Good verbal & written communication skills
- Supports a diverse work environment
- Shares knowledge
- Works for the good of the team
Qualifications and Experience.
The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to perform the duties of the position:
- Recognised Certificate/qualification – Certificate III Mechanical Fitting trade certificate or similar
- Hold a Construction safety induction (white card)
- Confined Space and Working at Heights ticket
- Forklift, Dogman/Rigger license is advantageous.
- Fire Fighting Awareness training
Other aspects of this role include:
- Full time position.
- Full medical required for this position.
- Police clearances required for this position.
Clearances required:
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearances.
