About the role
Reporting to the Master the 2nd Engineer is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the Vessel.
- Casual Position
- Ensure safe and reliable use of vessel equipment
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance duties via computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS, MEX)
- Perform all tasks instructed by the Master & Asset & Maintenance Planner
- Maintain and man engine room watchkeeping
- Ensure all technical equipment is in proper working condition
- Assist in all transfer operations, including bunkers, sewage, and potable water transfers
- Maintain official logbooks and registers
- Working Independently
- Broad experience and skills will be required for problem solving
About You
This is a diverse role that will require “a can-do attitude”, who is prepared to take on a vast selection of duties while working Independently. Ranging from Preventative Maintenance to breakdown repairs. Excellent communication, including good verbal and written skills will be required.
- Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 or higher - Essential
- Certificate of Safety Training- Essential
- Valid AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness - Essential
- Must have Australian work rights – Essential
- Strong problem solving, analysis and assessment skills – Essential
- Experience in the use of onboard planned maintenance systems - Essential
- Previous experience in similar transhipping or bulk handling plant- Advantage
