Job Overview

 

As the Principal Strategy and Planning Adviser, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Queensland Rail. You will lead the development and implementation of enterprise and business strategies that align with our vision and strategic objectives. You will also foster a culture of strategic thinking and Planning throughout the organisation.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare and provide expert advice in the development of a portfolio of enterprise and business strategies and plans.
  • Identify and recommend strategies to close gaps and capitalise on opportunities to execute Queensland Rail's Strategy and vision.
  • Collaborate with Queensland Rail executives and leadership teams to develop functional strategies and plans.
  • Facilitate group workshops and utilise strategic planning tools.
  • Integrate strategic, benchmarking, and performance analysis into relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and develop Board and Executive papers, presentations, plans, and other documentation as required.
  • Prepare and develop Queensland Rail's Strategic and Operational Plans.
  • Enhance the organisation's strategic knowledge capabilities by implementing effective coaching, frameworks, processes, and communication.
  • Participate in other team activities, including benchmarking, demographics, and program management.

 

 

Employment Type/Remuneration:  This is a fixed-term, fulltime position (ending 28.05.2025 with possible extension), based in Brisbane CBD with a starting base salary of $146,240 (pro-rata) plus 12.75% superannuation and hybrid work options to support the balance between work and personal commitments.

Essential qualifications and experience:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role or a substantial level of skill in strategic management.
  • Extensive knowledge in the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategy, frameworks, policy, and programs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops with diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 

 

Desirable qualifications and experience:

 

  • Skilled in creating, maintaining, and publishing intranet-based content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio or similar software for document and infographic development.
  • Experience in Government or related industry.
