About the role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Media Lead to join our Corporate Affairs team at Bunnings. This role will provide strategic guidance and support to key stakeholders on media, business communications, risk/issues and reputation management. Reporting to the Media Manager, this role is responsible for leading proactive and reactive communications and media relations plans in line with Bunnings’ priorities.

What's involved:

• Effectively identify and mitigate business issues and risks and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage a high volume of incoming media queries, consulting with stakeholders across the business to inform an approach/response and liaise with journalists, often working to tight deadlines. This includes being part of a roster to cover out-of-hours queries.
• Successfully co-ordinate and advise key internal and external business partners in executing and managing communication activities to protect and enhance the Bunnings brand.
• Undertake ongoing media monitoring of key business themes, stories and trends that may impact Bunnings’ brand or reputation, and provide guidance to stakeholders on issues and responses
• Successfully develop and execute reactive communications strategies and plans and engage all relevant stakeholders in this process.
• Project manage potential reputational issues, engaging all relevant areas of the business to help mitigate, and work cross-functionally with the wider Corporate Affairs team.

Who we’re looking for:

• Established experience in a fast paced media/ PR role within a retail, corporate or agency environment
• Demonstrated experience managing and influencing media at all levels.
• High level issues management skills including identification, mitigation and management processes.
• Ability to project manage issues across all stakeholders, working to tight deadlines.
• Proven to identify opportunities and lead the development and implementation of proactive media/comms plans including content creation
• Outstanding verbal communication skills and high level of interpersonal skills.
• Excellent writing skills including a demonstrated ability to write clear, concise messages and copy using everyday language that’s friendly and accessible.
• Experience in managing external media monitoring agencies.
