The role
A full-time opportunity is now available for a Media Manager.
The Media Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective media strategies to enhance the organisation's public image, reputation, and engagement.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, Communications and Media, the Media Manager will collaborate with various internal stakeholders to craft compelling messages, proactively engage with media outlets, handle incoming media enquiries and manage crisis communication effectively.
The Media Manager will stay up to date with industry trends, monitor media coverage, and leverage relationships with journalists to ensure accurate and positive representation in the media landscape.
The functions of the role will continue to evolve with the needs of the organisation and our stakeholders.
We encourage you to apply if you have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous peoples, cultures, and issues.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience as a journalist and / or ministerial media adviser is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and adapt communication styles for various platforms and audiences.
- Excellent eye for detail, and demonstrated experience juggling multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Creative thinking and the ability to generate innovative ideas for media campaigns.
- Knowledge of ethical media practices and industry standards.
- Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, while also collaborating within a team environment.
- Proficiency in digital media platforms and emerging communication technologies.
- Familiarity with media monitoring tools, analytics, and reporting.
