About the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students)
The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) provides administrative support to key strategic and operational functions of the University's student-related and academic services. Under the general portfolio, the Office team support Portfolio leadership and facilitate dialogue between key service areas to help the Portfolio ensure Flinders' educational offerings are innovative, of assured quality, and are student centred. About the Role
Flinders University is seeking a talented and innovative Media Officer to contribute to the development and implementation of communication and media strategies for the Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) team.

Commencing in March 2024, the Media Officer will work closely with Student Council, FUSA Staff and other stakeholders to meet diverse communication needs. This will include copy writing, promotion and graphic design solutions for a variety of digital and print media. You will also be accountable for:

  • Working in accordance with FUSA communication and media strategies to progress the objectives of FUSA (as identified in the Constitution and by Student Council) for all students and the wider university community.
  • Contributing to a range of communication and graphic design projects across a variety of digital and print material to support the marketing and communication strategies of FUSA.
  • Maintaining and managing social media channels, and FUSA's Website, including preparing and setting up online content, proactively sourcing content from student representatives, clubs and FUSA staff, moderating content uploaded to the website and on social media platforms, and tracking performance and reach.

About You
You will have high level communication and promotion strategies, with extensive copywriting and editing experience, which include experience using a range of communication platforms such as social media, websites and newsletters. Your ability to prepare correspondences, briefs and copy for a range of media platforms will be the key to your success in this pivotal role.

The successful Media Officer will also demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in communications and marketing, graphic design, media studies, or related field or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
  • The ability to collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders including Student Council, staff and other students to deliver outcomes in a complex organisation environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in desk top publishing and working on graphic design and print projects including routine to general knowledge of current design standards, work-flow procedures and production stages.
