North Queensland Land Council (NQLC) is a Native Title Representative Body appointed under the Native Title Act 1993. NQLC’s region covers approximately 943,300 km2 of lands and waters and is appointed by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA), to assist Aboriginal people with all aspects of their native title claims.
The NQLC has an opening for a Media Officer to assist the Chief Executive Officer to develop a communication strategy and address communication gaps via a media plan.
If you are a talented media type, who can interact with anyone, identify story opportunities, and produce quality reports / social media content / media briefs / speeches– we are interested in receiving your application.
Applicants must be goal and achievement oriented, have strong written and verbal communication skills, be willing to attend activity sites, interact with clients utilising culturally acceptable and safe practices, work in a team, be organise and be trusted to meet project deadlines.
Applicants will also need to demonstrate understanding of current Indigenous issues.
Finally, the applicant must provide evidence of recent works with Indigenous Australians and references that support current skills, knowledge and recent work history.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons are particularly encouraged to apply.
