The Media Relations Manager is a key position within the ANZ Group Media and Public Relations Team.
The Media and Public Relations Team works to:

  • protect and enhance ANZ's reputation through proactive and reactive media engagement.
  • support the preparation and execution of media engagement strategies, in support of the bank's strategic and business objectives.
  • support the delivery of key events including financial results, the AGM and strategic announcements.
  • The role is responsible for supporting the management of media enquiries and the day to day activities of the team. It will play a key role in providing guidance and support to key internal stakeholders on media strategy and issues and reputation management..


Role Location: Melbourne or Sydney
Role Type: Permanent, Full time

What will your day look like?

As a Media Relations Manager you will:

  • Helping to build, manage and maximise the bank's relationships with Australian media.
  • Preparing and implementing media engagement strategies.
  • Drafting, reviewing, approving and releasing media releases, statements and other external communications materials.
  • Supporting the daily management of and responses to media enquiries received by the Media Relations Team.
  • Providing media advice, training and support for ANZ leaders and spokespeople.
  • Working collaboratively and proactively with business stakeholders and colleagues in Communications and Public Affairs to support the bank's media and communications objectives.
  • Role-modelling leadership behaviours and actively contributing to a positive culture.
What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian media landscape, including print, online, radio, television and social media.
  • Experience in proactive and reactive media engagement, including issues management and crisis management.
  • Sound judgement and experience in making sound and timely decisions in an ambiguous environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
