THE OPPORTUNITY
Working as part of a collaborative team, the team will provide oversite and advice to the claims teams to support the thorough review and accurate payment of surgical and related invoices.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in the Sydney office with flexibility to work from home.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Thorough review and management of surgery related invoices to support highly accurate payment of surgical expenses in line with the relevant fee schedules and orders.
- Inform and assist with the implementation of case management practices to ensure surgical and related requests are considered in line with State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) fee schedules and AMA, MBS, National Procedure Banding and National Prothesis fee schedules to ensure compliance with schedules.
- Inform and assist with the implementation of coding practice standards and policies to uplift the Claims Teams capability to review and scrutinise Medical Coding and invoices in relation to surgeries.
- Creating and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, internal clients, and external clients and service providers by displaying our values and behaviours.
- Monitor external service provider behaviour to support a reduction in billing inaccuracies and reduced medical spend leakage related to surgeries.
ABOUT YOU
- More than 2+ years demonstrated experience working as a Medical Coding Specialist within a health care setting (hospital and/or private health insurer) or Workers Compensation or CTP Insurer.
- Health Information Management degree or similar clinical coding degree or certificate is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated understanding of the AMA, MBS, National Procedure Banding and National Prothesis fee schedules.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to coach internal team members
