About The Opportunity
NSW Health Pathology Maitland are seeking Medical Laboratory Assistants to join the dynamic team who are servicing the needs of the diverse and rapidly growing Hunter Valley region.
Maitland currently has a permanent position within the specimen reception department with the main role to accept pathology samples for processing as well as other specimen reception responsibilities to ensure a timely, streamlined process focused on best patient outcomes.
Being part of a growing community, but still near Newcastle, will see the area grow and expand and provide exiting opportunities within the laboratory space. With the expansion of the hospital and the increase in beds and outpatient services, the demand on fast, accurate and high standard of service delivery is paramount in building the already well-developed relationship the laboratory staff has with stakeholders. The friendly Maitland team embrace change, is supportive, and above all, set high standards for themselves and the team.
An eligibility list will also be compiled for upcoming positions as well as casual employment.

- A working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, all aspects of the laboratory environment relevant to the Department
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities
- Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, preferably in a laboratory environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment
- Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy
- Awareness of legislation, policies and requirements relevant to a laboratory setting
- Ability to participate in a rotating roster including weekends
