With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour's drive from the CBD, Melbourne's North is fast becoming the place to be!The Role:An opportunity exists for a Medical Laboratory Scientist Grade 1 to join the team at Northern Health on a part-time basisThis role would suit a passionate Laboratory Scientist with experience in routine histological techniques that enjoy working as part of a team to contribute to the production of high-quality work and participation on a rotating roster which includes various shifts and on-call duties form part of this position.Situated within the Anatomical Pathology team the key responsibilities would be (but not limited to); specimen handling, tissue cut-up and processing, Embedding and Microtomy of FFPE tissue, slide staining (H&E and special stains), performing frozen sections, and other associated duties. Rotation into IHC and Cytopathology areas may occur on a rostered basis.To be successful in this role you will have:
- A degree in Medical Laboratory science majoring in Anatomical Pathology or equivalent.
- Experience and good working knowledge of diagnostic Anatomical Pathology with competency in one or more of the following disciplines; microtomy, embedding, frozen sections, standard histology staining techniques.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a time to communicate cooperatively with other internal and external clients.
