SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.This position is a permanent appointment for a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist who is accredited (or who could be within 6 months) with the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) as a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (Radiology) Specialist.The incumbent will assist in the provision of a broad range of Medical Physics services that are related to Radiological imaging and will be responsible for overseeing the safe, effective, and efficient application of radiation for medical diagnosis and treatment, equipment management and image quality, thus ensuring compliance with the ARPANSA Code for Radiation Protection in Medical Exposure. The work includes: equipment lifecycle management and performance testing, research & development, education & training, and management of radiation safety in Radiology for staff, patients, and members of the public.The incumbent will also provide critical support to the Senior Medical Physics Specialist (Diagnostic Radiology) in maintaining SESLHD accreditation with the ACPSEM to train Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics Registrars under the ACPSEM Training, Education and Assessment Program (TEAP) for both Nuclear Medicine and Radiology specialties.Whilst based at the Prince of Wales Hospital, the scope of the role includes all relevant facilities/services within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community. • Undergraduate degree in Medical Physics (or a related field) from a ACPSEM recognised tertiary institution as well as a Postgraduate degree in Medical Physics (or a related field) from a ACPSEM recognised tertiary institution
• ACPSEM Certification in Radiology, or equivalent qualification. International candidates eligible for registration with ACPSEM may apply. Candidates who expect to become certified with the ACPSEM in Radiology Medical Physics within 6 months may also be considered.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as an effective team member of a multi-disciplinary team with demonstrated high level written and communication skills
• Current possession of NSW Drivers Licence (or willingness to obtain) and a willingness to travel across SESLHD in accordance with the requirements of the position
• Eligible for, or holding current accreditation as NSW Consulting Radiation Expert (CRE) Radiation Assessor
