SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.This position is a permanent appointment for a Senior Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist who is certified with the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) or eligible for registration in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (Radiology).The incumbent will lead and direct the provision of a broad range of Medical Physics services that are related to Radiological Imaging.The work includes equipment lifecycle management, management of radiation safety in Radiology for staff, patients and members of the public, performance testing, research & development, and education & training.A priority will be to maintain SESLHD accreditation to train Medical Physics Registrars in both specialties, namely Nuclear Medicine and Radiology, under the ACPSEM Training, Education and Assessment Program (TEAP) to ensure NSW has a sustainable workforce in this field.Whilst based at the Prince of Wales Hospital, the scope of the role includes all relevant facilities/services within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.SESLHD is committed to creating a workplace that reflects the diversity of our community. - Undergraduate degree in Physical Sciences from a recognised tertiary institution as well as a Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in Medical Physics, or a related field from a recognised tertiary institution
- Eligible for current registration with ACPSEM as a qualified Medical Physics Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics (Radiology)
- A minimum of 5 years (post ACPSEM certification or equivalent) of clinical experience in the field of radiology physics, including experience in the delivery of professional education within the Medical Physics context
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of medical physicists and work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with the ACPSEM Training, Education and Assessment Program and its requirements for facility accreditation as a training centre with an ability to train Registrars in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with higher education institutions or universities in areas of teaching and research
- Current possession of (or eligibility to apply for) a NSW Drivers Licence and a willingness to travel across SESLHD in accordance with the requirements of the position
- Ability to meet progression criteria for Senior Medical Physics Specialist as per the NSW Public Hospital Medical Physicists Award
