We are currently seeking expressions of interest from doctors wanting to join and support our medical team at Tom Price and Paraburdoo in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
We are the largest provider of outsourced private emergency departments to hospital partners within Australia. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the emergency departments and providing a superior level of emergency care to patients, we pride ourselves on short wait times, expert care, personalised service, and excellent follow up.
Tom Price has a population of around 3,000 people and is located approximately 1,600 kilometres from Perth. Town facilities include a supermarket, bank, medical centre, hospital, fuel outlet, library, primary schools, secondary school, Pilbara Institute (TAFE), café, restaurants, golf club, motels and a caravan park.
The town is home to three large ovals, tennis, netball, basketball and squash courts as well as a lawn bowls green, cricket nets, an 18-hole golf course and an Olympic-size swimming pool. There are several parks and gardens within the town, which are well maintained and provide an abundance of shade, suitable for a family barbeque. Tom Price is the gateway to the stunning Karijini National Park and is serviced by the nearby Paraburdoo Airport.
Paraburdoo is a smaller town with a population of 1,600. There is accommodation available at the local hotel for tourists, and P&O Catering facilities. IGA operates a modern supermarket from within the shopping centre in Paraburdoo where there is a pharmacy, newsagency, bakery and cafe. We also supply medical services to the local Aboriginal community once a fortnight. There are multiple flights daily to and from Perth to Paraburdoo via Qantas.
The Practice
At Tom Price and Paraburdoo, we promote comprehensive and thoughtful medical care for the whole family. We provide high quality care to the local communities within Tom Price, Paraburdoo and surrounding areas. We are a private billing practice.
Our clinics provide a range of services, including:
• Diagnosis and treatment of short term and chronic illness
• Minor operative procedures including Implanon
• Travel advice and immunisations
• Men’s and women’s health
• Skin cancer checks and treatment
• Occupational medicine and pre-employment medicals
• Childhood vaccinations
• Obstetric care
• Pathology and radiology services available at the hospital
• Supported by Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and Emergency Telehealth Services (ETS) via Western Australia Country Health Service (WACHS)
• Allied services can be coordinated through our excellent team of nursing staff and practice support staff.
The Requirements
• Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with Ahpra (visa sponsorship available for a doctor on a general practice training pathway)
• Doctors who hold FRACGP or FACRRM
• Ability to participate in the general practice VMO roster (you must have recent emergency work experience, within last 6 months). This will be on a 1:2/3 rotation
• Evidence of current Advanced Life Support Level 2 (ALS2) or Rural Emergency Skills Training (REST) course for emergency department rostering
