Medical Student Liaison Officer

Learning & Development

Permanent Part Time - 40 hours per fortnight

Nurses & Midwives Enterprise Agreement - Educator (YW4 – YZ7)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learning and Development Unit at West Gippsland Healthcare Group in the role of Medical Student Liaison Officer. This is a permanent part-time opportunity at 0.5 EFT. 

Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, you will work within a motivated and dedicated team that provides support to the organisation over a wide range of education and development services, including but not limited to, in-service education, development and delivery of training programs, competency assessments, supervision of student placements and staff development education.

We are seeking expressions of interest from motivated, experienced and enthusiastic people with a passion for learning and development to work collaboratively in providing high-quality learning opportunities, using a range of modalities that support and enable participants to practice as safe, confident and accountable professionals.

This stimulating role would suit an experienced nurse who has clinical expertise in General Medical/Surgery or Emergency nursing and is flexible, solutions-focused, committed to quality, willing to accept a challenge and enjoys working within a team that is dedicated to providing great service to their client group.

The Medical Student Liaison Officer is responsible for the facilitation of processes within WGHG for all Medical students at West Gippsland Healthcare Group, liaison with Clinical staff at WGHG and Universities.

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • At least 5 years of Post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in Education within the healthcare setting
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, including a demonstrated customer service and problem-solving approach to dealing with colleagues and clients.

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Previous involvement with University students
  • Experience in Medical Education
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or relevant tertiary qualification in education
