About the role
Exciting opportunities exist for Registered Nurses to obtain a 12-month supernumerary role within Mental Health Services – with placements offered both within the Community and Acute Inpatient settings.
South West Healthcare (SWH) will be again be conducting this innovative programme that allows Registered Nurses the opportunity to undertake a fully supported role within Mental Health services. The successful applicant will receive placements within the Community setting, including specialty services, and the Mental Health Acute Inpatient Unit (MHAIU) where they will develop a sound understanding of a range of assessments, and the provision of therapeutic interventions, with a focus on recovery, trauma informed care and family inclusiveness. To further support these roles, there will also be additional training, education and clinical supervision to support the development of specialist skills that are utilise within Mental Health.
The positions are (64 hours per fortnight) fixed term for 12 months, with opportunities for the suitable applicant to apply for permanent positions in Mental Health thereafter.

- The successful applicants will demonstrate competency in clinical practice and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, while providing high quality nursing care to clients.
- Working as part of a collaborative and highly skilled team of professionals, excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential, and a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of legislation, regulation and contemporary practice is a must.
