The Medical Workforce – Junior Medical Officer (JMO) Unit is responsible for the management of Medical Workforce across the sector and undertakes all aspects of human resource management, financial management and general administration including medical staff information management, budget management and other responsibilities as delegated.
This position provides a high quality administrative service to support the efficient and effective operation of the Medical Workforce – JMO Unit in Roster, Payroll and Recruitment and reports up to the JMO Manager.
There are two major functions and responsibilities of this role, which are accurately reflecting rosters of the JMOs in HealthRoster and a complete and accurate file containing all payroll information for the JMO workforces that can be transferred to Health Support Services (HSS) to achieve business and service objectives, including payroll advice. The other component is to manage the annual JMO recruitment process within the Northern Network for Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) its business units and secondment sites.
The Medical Workforce Unit has two FTE in this role and both share the same responsibilities divided to each other. These positions work closely with the JMO Manager and the Medical Workforce Operations Manager.
This position is for someone who is highly motivated and an organised self-starter who is always willing to learn something new.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in human resource management or relevant equivalent work experience with an ability to interpret awards, agreements and employment legislation, ideally in a Medical Workforce setting that includes rostering and recruitment experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a range of management and administrative tasks, monitoring and managing work priorities to enable adjustments to workflow as required, preferable in a workforce environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of roster and payroll processes and practices with the ability to interpret employment conditions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment and remuneration processes and practices with the ability to interpret employment conditions.
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail with an ability to identify and escalate significant issues as they arise quickly and accurately, especially in recruitment processes.
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills, ability to determine priorities with the ability to prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with a commitment to customer services.
