Who is MLEA?
At MLEA, we're not just another occupational therapy provider; we're a community of professionals who believe in the power of collaboration and growth. We specialise in delivering exceptional medicolegal services and supporting NDIS clients in our community division. Our mission at MLEA is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients through enhancing independence and quality of life.
What's it like to work at MLEA?
As passionate as we are about helping our clients, we are equally as passionate about ensuring the personal and professional fulfillment of all of our team members. From your first day at MLEA you will see that work-life balance takes precedence here. We understand the cognitive and emotional fatigue that can come with allied-health work and as such, we actively practice wellness strategies at both team and individual levels.
We discourage overtime and encourage self-care and all things wellness - whatever that looks like for you. Need to finish early to make that gym class? Go for it. Need to work from home to support family? Of course. Need to swap days to make that dance performance? Absolutely - can we come?! As a team, we participate in stress-down days (wear-your-pyjamas-to-work days), charity events and community activities (e.g. Bridge to Brisbane, Walk for Awareness), and enjoy regular social events together throughout the year (our annual Christmas in July party is a staff favourite). We are all each others' biggest supporters in everything we do.

The Role
MLEA is currently offering a rare opportunity to join our highly reputable team of Medicolegal Occupational Therapists. Medicolegal occupational therapy allows you to bring together your existing clinical experience and apply that to a medicolegal framework, culminating in the provision of medicolegal assessments and reports, used by personal injury lawyers in fighting for fair outcomes for injured clients.
The overarching tasks performed by a medicolegal OT typically includes the following:
- Performing assessments and functional capacity evaluations of injured clients
- Formulating opinions regarding the impact of injuries on clients' activities of daily living and work capacity
- Providing recommendations for assistive aides, equipment, home and vehicle modifications, and future rehabilitation or intervention
There will be opportunities to see clients in-rooms, in their homes, and/or offsite during our regular ‘away trips’ throughout Queensland (if you are interested in travel).
If medicolegal work is new to you, don't worry, we will teach you everything you need to know to make the seamless transition into this exciting realm of occupational therapy. You will work alongside and learn from our highly respected team of medicolegal experts, who will be there to support you every step of the way.
We are open to offering full-time or part-time positions. The currently advertised position is for a Medicolegal Occupational Therapist, however, if you are interested in combining both medicolegal and NDIS/community OT work, this is something we can also offer.
