About the role:

Working at our Hawthorn Social Support site, the Men's Shed Coordinator delivers services to our aged care clients to enhance their lives through quality activities. These activities support our clients to feel included with a focus on improving their health and well-being thorugh interaction and engagement. 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of the Men’s Shed Program 
  •  Develop, deliver and participate in, where required, the Social Connection programs for a diverse range of people with disabilities, older persons, their carers and representatives living in the community
  •  Ensure that the programs operate within agreed quality standards, resource frameworks and financial targets
  •  Ensure that programs are delivered in a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment
  •  Ensure that programs are delivered when and where a client needs them
  •  Ensure programs are offered in a range of ways including centre based special interest and special needs groups, 1:1 social support in the home or community, support using social media.

About you:

You are passionate about what you do and want to make a difference in the lives of our residents/clients, enhancing their self-esteem and empowering them to make choices.

  • Minimum of a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or other relevant qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practice and experience in high quality and compliant assessment, care planning and service delivery to older persons living in the community
  • Experience and expertise in working within and monitoring budgets
  • Experience and expertise in the leadership and development of a cohesive team, to support staff in the delivery of high quality services
  • Thrive in a team and also appreciate the one to one interactions

Essentials for working in Aged Care:

  • A current Working With Children 
  • Current and ongoing flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations
  • Australian working rights
  • Ability to pass a national police clearance
