Job DescriptionAre you passionate about helping young people and making a positive impact on their Mental Health? headspace Casey Cardinia is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Clinician to join our School Services team!
As a Mental Health Clinician at headspace, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive Mental Health support to young people.
Some of your key deliverables will include to:
- Establish the needs of potential clients through open and empathetic discussions
- Engage in system consultation, ensuring that our services are flexible and tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual
- Provide evidence-based psychological interventions and care coordination for young people who may be disengaged from education
- Conduct assessments, including MSE, risk, and discipline-specific assessments, using the HEADSS assessment tool
- Deliver evidence-informed psychosocial interventions to young people and their families, providing them with valuable information on Mental Health, drug and alcohol problems, and available support services
As Mental Health Clinician, you will be imbedded into the School Services Team at headspace Casey Cardinia. You will work in a multidisciplinary team that will focus on providing support to young people (aged 12-18) that are experiencing Mental Health difficulties and co-occurring issues (inclusive school disengagement).
There will also be opportunities to participate in community awareness and engagement activities, both onsite and offsite, as required.
Who we are looking forOur ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, or a related discipline
- Membership or eligibility for membership with AASW or APHRA, depending on your qualifications
- Highly developed problem-solving and negotiation skills, particularly when working with young people in the early stages of help-seeking
- A deep understanding of common Mental Health and social problems faced by young people, as well as evidence-based treatment options
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, maintain positive stakeholder relationships, and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
