About the Role
The primary purpose of this position will be to plan, coordinate, and provide evidence based, trauma informed and culturally and developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment to young people (up to the age of 24yrs) in acute Mental Health distress. The role offers specialist advice and consultation to their adult Mental Health colleagues, supports the smooth transition from CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) to Adult Mental Health and facilitates the engagement of multiple stakeholders including health, government and community managed agencies, in order to optimise care provision and health outcomes for young people and their families.
This position sits within the local Adult Mental Health Team (Lakes + Hunter Valley), however, has joint leadership support between CAMHS and Adult Mental Health. This position also has professional responsibility to the appropriate HNELHD Mental Health Head of Discipline and will be linked into in discipline specific supervision and supports, alongside the multi-disciplinary clinical supports of the Adult Mental Health, YES and broader CAMHS Teams.
Where you'll be working
The Youth Engagement Service (YES) Positions are CAMHS positions embedded within the adult Mental Health teams to deliver essential community based, assertive and flexible short-term multidisciplinary service delivering skilled evidence-based interventions to resolve Mental Health crisis with young people and their families. These interventions include risk management and stabilisation, safety planning and containment, brief intervention and multiagency/service linkage.
Two permanent, full-time positions are available – 1.0FTE at Hunter Valley Mental Health Team (Maitland) and 1.0FTE at Lake Macquarie Mental Health Team (Charlestown)
About You
We are seeking an emotionally intelligent, client centred, passionate and enthusiastic Senior Clinician – who has the ability to support the needs of young people and their families experiencing acute Mental Health. Expert interpersonal relationships will be key in this role.
