We are looking for Mental Health sensitive PCA workers to join the Choice Mental Health team in providing one-to-one disability care to children, young people, and adults. Currently, we are recruiting specifically for the Outer Eastern, Inner Eastern, and South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
We require well-presented, emotionally intelligent, highly motivated professionals who have a heart to support people both practically and emotionally through daily home support, community support, attentive listening, and proactive compassionate service. Successful applicants will be committed to going the extra mile to help each client reach their goals, no matter how big or small. This is a great opportunity to serve members of our community who too often get overlooked.
The duties of our Mental Health Disability support workers are undertaken in a client-centered, strength-based, fun, and holistic manner that empowers the client to identify and move toward their goals. Tasks vary depending on the unique circumstances of each person being supported. They can include:
- Showering, toileting, household tasks
- Cleaning and tidying
- Transport to appointments
- Exploring client strengths and developing practical skills through shared projects like gardening, crafts, fitness, et al.
- Helping clients build confidence to engage with the community
- Providing emotional support
- Assisting clients to engage with education, employment, or training
- Assisting clients to fill in paperwork and engage with various community services
- Being a positive agent of change through general life
- Talking about well-being and offering emotional support
- Providing client transport to assist with local community access and the tasks of daily living.
Requirements:
- NDIS Screening Check and Working With Children Check
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Manual Handling Certificate
- Qualifications in Disability Support/Mental Health/Social Work/Community Services or a willingness to undertake highly regarded
- Current first aid certificate with CPR (HLTAID003) highly regarded
