An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and curious MH-RUSON to work in wards located across our Mental Health Division.
Austin Health is looking for MENTAL HEALTH - REGISTERED UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT OF NURSING who are:
- Professional

- Willing to learn and develop skills
- Have a desire to connect and care for consumers experiencing a mental illness
- Currently in possession of a Fit2Work and Working with Children Check
- Able to AM and PM shifts (around clinical placements)
The MH-RUSON will be assigned to a home inpatient unit, our Secure Extended Care Unit.
The MH-RUSON's main focus will be in engaging consumers and their carers, families, and primary supports to promote a positive experience in our Mental Health inpatient units. In addition to assisting the registered Mental Health nurse with day to day nursing duties, the MH-RUSON may be engaged in therapeutic groups, orientation of consumers or visitors to the inpatient units, or other activities that promote recovery and engagement in the Mental Health setting.
This is a great opportunity for Undergraduate Students to expand their clinical practice experience in the Mental Health setting, to learn more about a career in Mental Health nursing, and to support the recovery of consumers accessing Mental Health services.
