Job description:
- Analyse blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand job requirements and project goals.
- Choose appropriate metal stock for fabrication tasks.
- Clean and prepare metal stock to ensure it is ready for cutting and shaping.
- Mark out metal sections and shapes according to project specifications.
- Use hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines to cut metal sections accurately.
- Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand tools, machine tools, and heating and hammering techniques.
- Ensure metal components are formed to precise dimensions and shapes.
- Align metal parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments to ensure accurate assembly.
- Join metal sections using various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Secure metal parts together by bolting and riveting when necessary.
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet specifications for width of bead, penetration, and precision.
- Make any necessary adjustments to achieve desired weld quality.
- Finish metal products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing them in acidic solutions.
- Ensure finished products have a high-quality surface finish and meet all specifications.
- Clean and smooth welds using filing, chiseling, and grinding techniques to ensure a polished finish.
- Operate CNC laser cutting machines to cut and shape metal components with high precision.
- Program and adjust CNC machines to ensure accurate and efficient operations.
- Adhere to defined company policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken.
- Adhere to the company’s zero-tolerance policy on violations of company policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service to the organisations external and internal customers and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively within the team and with other staff to achieve continuous improvement in service delivery to clients.
- Participate in team and professional development activities.
- Raise and report any issues or concerns including issues (defects), improvements, incidents, injuries, hazards etc. to the reporting manager within a reasonable timeframe.
- Comply with other policies, procedures and management systems requirements as introduced by the company.
Qualifications/Attributes:
- Must hold a minimum CIII in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the qualification.
- Must possess at least a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience in metal fabrication and welding.
- Proficiency in operating welding equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
