Job description

WHO ARE WE?

Liontown Resources (ASX: LTR) is an ASX listed company specialising in battery minerals, with a focus on becoming an ESG leader in the resources sector.

We aspire to be a globally significant provider of battery minerals for the rapidly growing clean energy market. Liontown aims to achieve this by finding, developing, and supplying the battery minerals essential for the electric vehicle and energy storage industries.

Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Project is a Tier-1 battery metals asset, boasting grade and scale, making it one of the largest and highest-grade hard rock lithium deposits globally. Positioned at the forefront of Liontown's low-carbon future, this project is set to commence production in mid-2024.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Liontown Resources is currently inviting applications for Metallurgical Technicians to join our site-based team on an 8:6 roster reporting into our Metallurgy Superintendent. This role will involve supporting metallurgical processes and ensuring the efficient extraction of minerals. As a Metallurgical Technician, you will conduct laboratory tests, analyse samples, and collaborate with metallurgists to optimise mineral processing techniques.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Laboratory Testing:

  • Conduct metallurgical laboratory tests on ore samples to assess their composition.

  • Perform experiments to optimise mineral processing methods.

Sample Preparation:

  • Prepare mineral samples for testing, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Assist in the collection and documentation of samples from various processing stages.

Data Analysis:

  • Analyse test results and contribute to the interpretation of metallurgical data.

  • Collaborate with metallurgists to identify opportunities for process improvement.

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used in metallurgical testing.

  • Ensure equipment calibration and troubleshoot any issues.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures, test results, and data entries.

  • Assist in the preparation of metallurgical reports and summaries.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a Metallurgical Technician or similar role, preferably in the mining or mineral processing industry.

  • Familiarity with metallurgical laboratory procedures.

  • Diploma or degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.

  • Certification in metallurgical testing or laboratory techniques is advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail in laboratory work.

  • Proficiency in using metallurgical testing equipment.

  • Effective communication and collaboration with the metallurgical team.

  • Have obtained a National Police Clearance within the last 6 months or can obtain one.

  • Able to pass a Pre-Employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screen.

WHY LIONTOWN

Our purpose is to find and develop lithium and other mineral deposits required to support the transition to a low-carbon future. The minerals we will mine are key to the electric vehicle and energy storage industries that will contribute to a low-carbon future.

We aim to be a globally significant ESG leader and provider of battery minerals for the rapidly growing clean energy market. We partner with customers and suppliers who can demonstrate their ESG credentials.

The materials we produce are a critical input to global decarbonisation efforts and it is our responsibility to produce them with the lowest possible carbon footprint and manage the environmental impact at every stage. For this reason, at our Kathleen Valley operation, we have made a significant upfront capital investment via our energy partner, Zenith Energy, to ensure that at least 60% of our start-up energy requirements will come from renewable energy, from what is currently expected to be the largest off-grid wind-solar-battery storage hybrid power station for a mining project in Australia.

As the world transitions to a low-carbon future, we aim to be part of the solution, not contribute to the problem.
