Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, direct, and coordinate the activities of field staff and subcontractors under your supervision
  • Follow up regularly with each direct report and provide support, guidance and coaching to assist direct reports meet peer average performance. If direct report continues to underperform, liaise with HR and Operations Management for further assistance.
  • Ensure the standard of all work in the field is of a high quality and in accordance with approved work practices and standards required by the Client, the Company and service providers, including Auditing.
  • Represent Service Stream in relation to customer complaints management and ensure all incident are reported as per company procedure
  • Ensure current work practices are implemented in the field and recommend changes to ensure that any activity is performed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Ensure that all tasks undertaken are performed in a manner consistent with OH & S policies and procedures of the company and the relevant state legislation
  • Co-ordinate and assist in the training & ongoing development of all staff & sub-contractors
  • Liaise with the client and its customers to appropriately manage the client’s network & plant
  • Liaise with and make all necessary arrangements with Public Authorities regarding provision of services to the network and working in public areas
  • Resolve conflicts within your group. Counsel staff and subcontractors on poor performance eg; work practices/output, defects, attendance, punctuality, failure to report, customer complaints etc.
  • Arrange reports to management and the customer on the status of work and recommend / carry out corrective action as required, escalating issues where necessary
  • Produce and disseminate relevant briefings / updates / information to all staff and sub-contractors
  • Ensure regular daily contact with each direct report to follow up progress of work and any general concerns. There is an expectation that supervisors have an understanding of movements of their direct reports
  • Exchange meters on a consistent basis (daily) to ensure that supervisors’ skills are kept up-to-date and contribute to workflow
  • Complete any complex exchanges as required
About YouTo be successful for this role, you will have:
  • An expert technical knowledge of the relevant aspects of the Hunter Water network and the work practices required by the client
  • Ability to resolve day-to-day operational issues and solve technical problems with a high degree of autonomy, and independent judgement
  • Excellent communication skills to interpret the meaning of complex written, spoken and diagrammatic procedures and to ensure all staff are clearly instructed on procedures, policies and targets etc.
  • Excellent performance and workmanship
  • A high level of organisation skills to achieve client targets. Be effective with time management and be able to prioritise critical issues.
  • An aptitude for effective leadership with a commitment to positively influence others
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Suitable negotiation skills to ensure diplomatic resolution of field issues
Experience and Qualifications Required
  • Minimum 3 years plumbing experience
  • Relevant technical qualifications (plumbing)
  • Relevant Industry training
  • Current drivers licence to enable site visits
  • OHS Construction Industry white card
