BG&C is ANZ’s Control Officer role in our Non-Financial Risk Framework. It is one of Seven critical accountability families across the Three Lines of Defence, that operate within the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure ANZ manages non-financial risk within appetite.
As the Control Officer for the Institutional Division, BG&C holds the following responsibilities:
Drives the cultural change and embedding of the NFR Framework and associated policy requirements on behalf of the business and its ultimate Line 1 Risk Owner.
Line 1 SME in NFR Framework and policy related matter
Measures and monitors NFR, ensuring Line 1 operates within the Framework and Appetite.
Ensure Line 1 accountabilities are executed in line with requirements and risks are managed within Risk Theme and Group Appetite
Partners with Risk Owners to oversee the discharge of their accountabilities for end-to-end risk management within Line 1.
Oversee risk identification and assessments, Control application, risk response and ongoing monitoring activities.
Advises Control Owners in their design and implementation of Controls suitable for managing Line 1 risks and meeting external and internal requirements.
Consolidate on behalf of Line 1, NFR stakeholder management, governance, and Controls effectiveness testing.
Perform risk governance activities as required for Line 1
Catalyst to identifying and understanding future and emerging strategic risks relevant to Line 1
What will your day look like
Partner with business facing BG&C teams and business stakeholders to build out data analytics and insights strategy.
Extract risk information from multiple sources (systems, tools etc.) and drive meaningful insights to assist business (risk/ control) owners make informed risk decisions.
Build out data analytics and insights capability within broader BG&C team.
Assist in the standardisation and preparation of packs across the Division in addition to reporting of risk insights with a focus on the ‘so-what’ for business stakeholders.
Provide subject matter expertise on uses of data; tools to make best use of data; and emerging trends across Industry (e.g. use of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence etc.)
Drive NRF Metrics Environment Initiative which includes Monitoring & Reporting (RAS, KRIs & Risk Culture)
End to End oversight, monitoring & reporting including escalation & follow for all NFR data
What will you bring?

Extensive relevant experience in the banking and financial services sector including Operational Risk & Compliance domain.
Min 7 to 10 years Data Analysis experience and related technical experience and places a strong emphasis on accuracy and quality.
Min 7 to 10 years of proven ability in undertaking complex analysis using sophisticated processes and evaluating outcomes.
Experience leading, planning, and executing business change.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Ability to think strategically and work autonomously and collaboratively.
Understanding of Non-Financial Risk Management at ANZ and the role of the Control Officer
Production of high-quality written materials for a senior stakeholder audience
Be curious and demonstrate an adaptive and growth mindset.
Knowledge of effective application of ANZ’s non-financial risk framework.
Structured thinking with demonstrated ability to use and apply innovative solutions to effectively manage non-financial risk
‘Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences
Understanding of ANZ’s Institutional Business structure and function
Familiarity with the I.AM Amplified transformation in progress.
Experience designing and implementing business process improvement.
Hands-on knowledge and experience with tools and techniques for analysis, data manipulation and presentation (e.g. SQL, Python, QlikSense, Excel VBA, Tableau).
