What you'll be doing:
A fabulous opportunity to join the dedicated team in Women's Health at Nepean Hospital in the role of Midwifery/Nurse Unit Manager Level 2 is now available. This imperative role is located in the Antenatal Ward in a permanent full-time position.
Your role as The Nursing/Midwifery Unit Manager ensures that the physical, human and financial resources at the local level are managed effectively to meet the needs of patients and service demand and acts as an advocate for patients/clients and staff and promotes consumer involvement in care delivery. Your role and responsibilities includes a duty of care to staff to ensure that there is a safe working environment and that staff are developed appropriately to meet the service demands and to realise their potential.
Given the role and responsibilities of the position it is important that you are physically present on the unit the majority of the time supervising clinical care and attending to all matters relating to the efficient functions of the ward/service.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed: * Current registration with AHPRA - Division 1 Registered Midwife / Registered Nurse

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in management or working towards attainment
  • Demonstrated skills in quality improvement/redesign projects and the associated change management
  • Demonstrated sound financial skills with an ability to interpret financial reports
  • Proven ability to motivate, manage and develop nursing/midwifery staff to maintain a positive workplace culture
  • Proven ability to assess nursing/midwifery utilisation and resource requirements within agreed targets
  • Demonstrated effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
